Talking Electrical Inspection

I passed the electrical inspection this morning with a few minor hits.

Cables needed to be stapled within 6 inches of a single-gang and 12 inches of a double-gang.

Add a receptacle to one bedroom. I miss the 6 foot rule by 6 inches.

The inspector also said that wires should stick out at least three inches from the face of the box. This is not required by code but it makes putting the receptacle in easier.

Most importantly I got the okay to close up the walls and ceilings.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Actually there is a code that says there has to be at least 6 inches of free conductor, and each conductor has to be long enough to extend 3 inches out of the box. It is 300-14 in the 1999 NEC and 300.14 in the 2002 code.

Congratulations on passing your electrical inspection!

Thanks Nick. I will pass that on to the inspector.
