We are finishing our basement but it turns out the breaker box is going to be in the bathroom. The main breaker switch is upstairs but all of the outlets and lights have the breaker switches downstairs. Can you have a breaker box in the bathroom and if so what do I need to so this is okay. Can I put it in a cupboard or something. I do not want to move the breaker box but would do so if it is necessary.

Thanks

Matt

A breaker box of any kind cannot be located in a bathroom. You surely could not put in inside of a cabinet either, at any location.
How to fix?
If this is an interior wall, you could consider turning it around facing the opposite direction.
Another is move it over just outside dimension of the bathroom.
Third, change the location of the bathroom to get it outside.

hello matt,
david is 100% correct you can not have a panel in a bath nor can it be inclosed in a cupboard. there is another option david didnt address, u could build a wall in frount of panel with axcess from outside of bath makeing a small closet area, i have seen this doen in other homes, just be sure u have at least 3' of free space in front of panel.
