Question

I PURCHASED A USED HOT TUB. IT WAS WIRED TO JUST A 220V 60 AMP 2 POLE BREAKER IN A SQUARE D OUTDOOR BOX.
I CALLED A PRO TO HOOK IT UP ON MY DECK,AND HIS BID REQUIRED A $ 200.00 - 60 AMP 220V
GFCI BREAKER ???? IT DOES HAVE A 110V GFCI IN THE TUBS CONTROL BOX THAT THE "LIGHT" AND THE HEATERS"TIMER" IS CONNECTED TO.
MY QUESTION IS : DO I REALLY NEED THE 220 GFCI FOR THE 1HP PUMP AND THE 1HP AIR PUMP ?
OR WILL A 60 AMP BREAKER DO THE JOB AND BE
REASONABLY SAFE?

The current code requires the 60A 220 GFI Breaker. Up until 5 years ago, the accepted method was the way it was apparently wired. The pump was not protected, only the 110 volt controls with a GFI receptacle provided on the control panel.
Do the the right way and remove any doubt and relax in your spa.
