vines growing on house and powerline

I'm buying a foreclosed house and the prevoius owner let vines grow up the house and onto the powerline. I was wondering who I could get to remove them? any insight would be appreciated!

thanks,

Call the power company. Generally they'll deal with anything up to the entrance.

I'd recommend ripping the ivy out of the ground at the base of the house -- it'll eventually die and be much easier to remove. But calling the power company here to make sure it's done safely and properly is a must!

this is not an electrical answer but a vine answer. vines will suck the moisture out of mortar and wood to the point of wall failure so look carefully at the structure. This is why the Ivy halls of that northern college has no ivy on it now.
