Although there is no easy way to do this, you probably won't need a new breaker box. What you will likely need is a new 220-volt circuit. If this is not within your budget, there are a lot of 110-volt air conditioners on the market. Make sure you get a 15-amp one if all you have is a 15-amp circuit available.

John issued good advice. Although if you were lucky enough to have a dedicated branch circuit serving that receptacle with no other receptacles or lights on that circuit tell us and there may be a way to convert from 120 volt to 220 volt but only if this branch circuit serves only one receptacle as a dedicated circuit.

If you have a multioutlet branch circuit then you will need to install a new dedicated branch circuit to serve that a/c unit from the panel with nothing else on that branch circuit.

Hope this helps
