Hello, i presently have a 110 outlet where i need to install a 240 line for an Air cond. i just purchased, The gauge in the wall now is 14. I was told to get 12, but there are #'s also. Is there a difference? and if anyone knows where i can find a step by step process in installing such a line, breaker, and outlet???? thanks!

Wamphry,
Disregard the 110 volt outlet. It cannot be converted in your case. It is to small and it is probably a non-designated outlet.
You will need a 20 amp two pole breaker, 12/2 or #12 wire and the appropriate size/rated outlet. Make sure you also have the available space in your panel.
How you do it depends on your physical situation which I do not know.
If you have additional questions, just write.
