Skil 3/8" #6225 Drill 1/3 hp Stopped working correctly. Can I fix?
I was using a Skill Model # 6225 3/8 “ variable speed reversing drill to go through concrete. Now the bit part stopped turning. The motor runs and if I manually push the bit part with my fingers it will spin a couple of times and then stop again. Does anyone know if I can fix this and what the problem might be? Thank you for any help.

If your drill has a mechanical two speed lever then it could be as chris suggested.
If not, it is likely that the gears are stripped.
Skill drills are so inexpensive that it would not be worth repairing.
Drilling concrete is a demanding task and if you think you might do it again, a hammer drill would be a wise investment.
Even a Skill hammer drill would be better than a standard drill for that job.

This happened to me on several craftsman drills when drilling 1 1/4 inch holes through studs for wiring. One tooth on the gear will break off and then the whole unit is junk. has happened to both helical and straight cut gears. Maybe im just good at breaking stuff. -Josh
