siding nailer

im planning on siding my home w/ fiber cement siding. the manufacturer recommends a hitachi pneumatic siding nailer. i have a hitachi roofing nailer. the fasteners seen similar. is there a big difference between these 2 guns? i'd rather not spend $300 on a new gun.

Does your roofing nailer have a means or an adjustment for setting the nails flush??? If so, you can probably make it work. If not, it looks like you'll be investing in more tools.

Checking the Hardie website, it says you can use an 11 ga. roofing nail (0.121" shank x 0.371" HD x 1 1/4" L) when using a blind nailing technique. It also says "The use of a siding nail or roofing nail may not be applicable to all installations where greater windloads or higher exposure categories of wind resistance is required by the Local Building Code. Consult the applicable Building Code Compliance Report.)

I love my nailers, but with all the problems encountered in the past with siding I would use my hammer. Just my opinion, I would follow the instructions provided by the product
