Question

I recently bought a 50's-vintage table saw. It's in fine working order, except that the cast-iron table has a fine coating of rust. What would be the best way of removing the rust, without excessively scratching the table surface?

Thanks. rpr3

Thumbs up

I've had pretty good luck using a wall sander and pad with mineral spirits. I rub it down real well and do it as much as is necessary to remove the surface rust.

A Cratex block would work too. You will have some hand rubbing to do, but they are made to remove rust w/o removing any base metal.
