Smokin' Weedeater Head
#1

Featherlite gas-powered string trimmer--trimmer head smokes after a few minutes, developing lots of heat because there seems to be no lubrication at the head or in the shaft.
How do I fix this? Is there a leak somewhere? Am I supposed to lubricate the shaft, and if so, how? (Can't find the users' manual)

There is no place for a user to lube the shaft on weedeaters that I have ever come across. They come greased from the factory and ride plastic bushings. The only time you would grease is if you installed a new drivewire. It sounds like the bushing or bearing that the head rides on at the end of the shaft may have gone out.If this is the case it probably has melted the hex shaped area that locks the head on to the shaft. An inspection of this whole area should show what has happened.
