Dewalt Power Saw problem

I wonder if anyone can help.

my dewalt 110volt power saw has a problem.

there are small sparks from the brushes when the motor is turning, normal i think.

however when the switch is released there is a large single flash at the brushes/armature as the motor slows down.

any one got any ideas. i thought it might be the capacitor under braking but it isnt.

hugh.

hugh,

There would be no doubt that the spark you are seeing is from the braking system.
Do you know if it is sparking more that usual?

The only thing you can do yourself if you are so inclined is to dismantle and clean the saw along with checking the brushes and commutator surface.
If the windings in the armature or stator were going, it would take specialized equipment to diagnose it.

You might also try carefully blowing it out with air.
