worm drive Saw

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a worm drive saw from SKIL and wanted to know the difference between SKIL Model #HD77 and SKIL Model #HD77M. Links listed below.
The price difference is as follows.
List Price Amazon Price
HD77 308.0 156.00
HD77M 200.0 175.00

The only tech difference I could find is the weight the 77M being 2 pounds lighter. The other thing that is confusing is the list price - Not sure why the list price of HD77 is about $100 more than the 77M

Comments? Advice on which is better?

Thanks.

My guess is that it is a mistake in the "list price" for the 77M. The 77M has always cost more. Unless you have Popeye arms, you will probably appreciate the weight. I have not heard anything bad about the magnesium saw (except by people who don't like either saw or any worm drive for that matter). There are both good heavy-duty saws.

the M stands for magnesium. That model is a lot lighter and holds up a lot longer.

mdesciscio is right. I've got one and love it. Only bad thing about it is the aluminum base scratches easily. The other one is steel. Slides like ball bearings when it's new, though!

What holds up longer on the mag. I have a 77 that I am waiting to die so I can get the lighter saw.
