Noisy Kobalt digital Air Compressor

I just bought a new Kobalt Digital air compressor. It pumps up to 150 PSI and shuts off okay, but when the output is set lower than the tank pressure it constantly "puffs," bleeds off every few seconds. I know that a standard regulator is supposed to bleed off when you turn it down to a lower pressure, but just for a second while you are turning it. I am wondering weather this is speicfic to this "digital" model. When turned off it doesn't do it, it's very irratating to listen to it every few seconds, plus it seems to be a waste of air. So............ I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is "normal" for this model? Couldn't find a "Kobalt" web site to ask.

Welcome mroe!

I couldn't find any info on your compressor but if it's the air pressure regulator that is causing a problem it will have nothing to do with the digital reference in the name.
All you could do is while venting pressure fron the hose, turn the regulator all the way in and then back out a couple of times.
This could dislodge something if stuck in the regulator.
Otherwise take it back.
