Question Electric Can Crusher

Hello,

My dad is getting on in the years, but he's not too old to pick up every can aluminum can that he sees. He is getting too old to crush each one by hand/foot/or manual can crusher.

Does ANYONE know where I could get an electronic can crusher to lighten his crushing load?

Thanks!

I don't, sorry
But the same thing did occur to me after seeing my Father-In-Law do that on my last visit
He uses his foot
A power crusher has been in the back of my mind since then
If I run across one, I'll be sure to post up

Long ago I used to frequent a bar that had some type of electric can crusher, it was noisy! So unless it was a custom made one of a kind, I'm sure their out there somewhere.

Thumbs up Boomschtick, This is as good a place as any to post this.

I know a fellow in a similar situation as your dads and he uses a large shop vice to crush cans.
Its slow but for him but it takes less effort to spin the handle on the vice than to use his manual crusher.

I also wonder if it would be possible to rig up a longer handle on a manual can crusher so there would be less effort required.

Did a quick search and only came up with this:

I've not built this yet, but it seems plausible. Make a rectangular frame w/ metal angle. The frame should have both a solid top and a bottom and be tall enough to fit a small car scissor jack with a 16 oz can on top. Rig an electric drill to the jack screw drive end. The mechanical advantage, which can lift a 2000lb car, should be enough to squash the can. If I were so inclined to build one, I'd pick up a cheap reversable electric drill and extend the frame of the crusher so it supports the drill and prevents it from twisting.

If you feel up to the challange, how about you build one as proof of concept and I'll pay for the parts and shipping!

If your Dad still drives, why not mash them with his car/pickup?
