Planers & Jointers blade removal question
I got a very old craftsman & don't know how to remove the knives,
there are 4 allen-head screws, I have tried to loosen them, 2 loosens one way & the other 2 the other way & I am afraid to hit the blades like on the side. I just don't know what to do.
any help wud be great. Let me know what other info if any.

You are right in tecnique even though it looks scary. Take a flat punch and tap the solid part of the blade being held in the slot until it releases. If there is any space between the blade and the bottom of the slot, you could insert a small screw driver and wedge it out a little until it releases. You may have to spray the blades with a releasing agent, since you have iron to iron contact
