I've owned several old timers, tree brand, etc., and can assure you the china made knives aren't made with the quality the USA brands were years ago. Anything we send overseas to be manufactured seems to lack in workmanship and materials. This was not meant to be a political statement, but a statement of wht I have noticed.
Shop yard sales and attend gun shows to see if you can find some of the older versions. That is what I do, and have good success.

Hi, I was a tool & die maker for the Imperial Schrade company that made the Old Timer knives. I retired from there shortly before they closed the doors. I can tell you that the ones from China are very poor quality. They look pretty good, but the blades are lousy. Don banjo71
