Do I buy a table saw or a miter saw

I need to replace baseboards in my home, but I have only enough money and space for one type of power saw. Should I buy a miter saw or a table saw? If I could use a table saw, then I would have it to do other things after I am done with the mitering.

Mitering baseboard on a table saw is very difficult when your cutting longer pieces. Even short pieces would be tough to get a tight mitered joint.

Not the right tool for the job.

Mango Man's idea of a manual miter box and hand saw would be your least expensive option. But if your house is huge, and your replacing all the baseboard, I would invest in a power miter saw. You can get one that would be sufficient for about $100 at one of the big box home improvement stores.

I agree with all above, I bought a table saw first and while it is possible to make mitre cuts on a table saw, it is unhandy and not very accurate especially for base board.

After buying my miter saw I wondered how I ever got by with out one..... but I could say that about almost all my tool purchaces

I find I usually have greater precision with a quality power tool than by hand. The project usually dictates the tool and this project calls for a miter saw.

Exactly. Highly unlikely one could achieve the same accuracy by hand vs a good mitre saw. Been there, done that!
