Compressor Advice

Howdy All:

I'm considering a compressor, nothing too expensive, but powerful and adaptable enough to power the things I might need around the house (nail gun, paint gun, ratchet, fill tires... etc.).

Do your average Home Depot specials have this capability? And are all the "adapters" for different devices universal?

Thanks for any help.

Short burst stuff like nail guns will run off most compressors. The things that run for longer periods like paint sprayers, sanders and ratchets and imact wrenches require more volume. I would start by looking at the required volume on the tools you anticipate using and then find a compressor with at least that much volume.

To get an air compressor that will give you good service you would need to pay attention to what type it is.
Many people are buying inexpensive oilless or direct drive oil filled units that do not stand up.

There is information on purchasing a compressor in the sticky at the top of this forum topic.
Read this and you may have some specific questions.
