scroll saw

I have a 16" AMT scroll saw. I have a hard time cutting straights lines with it as the blade tends to roam or go to an angle. Is there a way to tighten the blade so I will get a truer cut? I have the original manual but it doesn't mention this problem anywhere.

Ernie, move the hold down pawl closer to your work. In fact you want it to touch your work. It will give stability to your blade and it won't wander as much. And the knob directly on top of the blade carriage will tighten the blade. I have a 24" throat Craftsman and have two knobs. One tightens the blade and the other regulates the vibration causing the cuts. Not sure how yours does that.
