Air Compressor Producres Too Much Water
i think the title says it all. i have a 40 gallon single stage IR air compressor that makes way too much water. i can probably get two or three gallons a day out of it.
what can do to prevent this

You can't prevent it, water condensing from compressed air is completely normal. I used to deal with several hundred gallons a day.
Just keep draining the tank on a daily (or more often, if necessary) basis.

Condensation is normal but there could be causes for excess moisture.
What causes moisture to form in the first place is when the air is compressed heat is added which raises the temperature of the air and moisture within it.
When the air travels through the discharge line to the tank it is cooled which causes the moisture to condense and form water droplets.
What will increase the amount of water condensed is if the valves or rings in the compressor are worn causing more heat to be added than normal which will increase the amount of water that is formed.
The other thing that will cause excess moisture is if the compressor unit is too small for the job and excess running time causes the air receiver tank to warm up.
What this will do is cause less water to be formed within the tank but will cause it to condense in the hose or air tool.
So, if your air line is more like a garden hose than an air line perhaps one of the above is your problem.
