Welcome to the forums!

Does it shut off at any pressure? or does it trigger the pop off valve?

Generally the air compressor builds up to a certain pressure and then cut's off. The regulator is set separately - it sets the pressure that is released from the tank. That way you get the pressure needed at the hose and the tank doesn't have to run constantly but kicks in when the tank pressure drops to a specific low pressure.

No,and ,NO,...it keeps running,,even when it reach the 75 psi it keeps running. But when i turn it off and pull the pop off valve on top,,,it will drop down to 75 psi and the valve will close to hold the pressure at 75 psi.
Thanks

most air compressor switches have a cut in and a cut out ie cut in at say 70psi, then the cut out would be at 100 psi, if your compressor keeps running either the pressure switch is defective or the compressor is unable to build to the proper cut out pressure, most cheep compressors the pressure switch is not adjustable by the owner. how old is this compressor, check for under warrenty? that pop off valve is just for over fill protection and from your description is working properly.

Hey,,Speedwrench it's about 5 yr's old,,,,,, head it service once,,same problem,it seem an easy motor. So i was thinking i could fix it. I do think the new pressure switch could be defective. I will reture it,,,it's about 6 days old.
