Plastic weld suggestions needed
I have a John Deere lawn tractor. The chute from mower to the grass bag had a piece break off. A piece about 3"x2". This chute/tube is about 4 feet x 6 inches in diameter. A friend, with a plastic welder, reattached the piece. Feels real solid. BUT, I would like to know if there is something I can put over the welded piece to reinforce it. For example, apply a resin that hardens over the welded area to give it more strength. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Welcome to the forums! If you can form a thin piece of metal to the contour of the piece, and rivet it to both sides, you may extend its serviceable life. This looks like a pressure point with the hook, so not sure how successful you will be.

There are syringes containing 2-part epoxy that you could spread over the weld. Usually found in the same area of the store as JB Weld, glues, silicone adhesives.

Devcon Plastic Welder Epoxy.
Hello Friend
I came across an Epoxy that is as close to plastic a one can
get. I have repaired, copied plastic parts you can sand &
paint it to make repairs invisable. At 3,500 PSI it's not
weak but will stand up to lots of work. I found that plastic
spray paint stands up best & won't peel off. Good Luck!
