Air compressor: waking up Sleeping Beauty
Nothing wrong with my perhaps 18 year old Craftsman 20-gallon 4hp compressor -- or there wasn't the last time I used it. For some combination of reasons I have not been using it for some time... quite a few years, maybe 7 or 8 years.
I might be needing it again, I couild simply fire it up and see if it explodes or not. That does not seem "optimal", I'd think some manner of recommissioning would be in order, like a car that has been sitting.
My first though was to pull the spark plug and squirt a little oil down the opening. Oh, wait --

I would say just blow out the motor with a little air, and change the oil in the pump with a non-detergent 30 weight oil and you should be good to go. Watch it when you first fire it up and make sure it has a pressure release valve, and that it shuts off on its own at the correct pressure. Probably around 100-130psi.

Which I would do HOW?
Seriously, sounds straightforward. The shutoff vale always worked before, i think I had it set at 110psi.
