Question air compressor

campbell haus air comp. 80 gal. safety valve constantly popping 5-6 times per second. replaced with 75 p.s.i. new one still the same. this is a 175 p.s.i. compressor. does it need a 175 safety valve? it will go to 175 p.s.i. and hold in the tank. been running like this for 2 weeks now, its annoying with the noise! please help

This reads as if you have a two-stage compressor and the safety valve on the intercooler between stages is the one popping. This is caused by leaking discharge valves in the second (high pressure) stage. Definitely do NOT replace the intercooler safety valve with a higher pressure model.

Furd is correct, of course. Average intercooler pressure is about 40-50 psi, if the discharge pressure is 175. You'll blow the intercooler apart if you put a 175 valve on it. Remove the head and inspect the valves. I suspect they are finger type - may be bent, stuck or broken.
