Is it safe to use 4.5" discs on a 5" angle grinder?

I've been using a cheapo unbranded grinder lately for misc tasks around the house. The more I learn about grinders, the more scared I become about continuing to use this grinder.

I'm in the market for a good grinder and am researching safe practices.

I've narrowed it down to 2 grinders I believe:
Can I use 4.5" discs and wheels on the 5" grinder? Is there any reason I shouldn't get the 5"? (one of the reviewers says that the grinders are the same except for the guard)

You can. Grinder accessories are rated for max RPM, as long as you don't exeed the rating, you are safe Though, I would recommend quality, brand name accessories.
