laser level
Iam looking to buy a laser level to lay lines on my basement floor to put down my wall plates.I bought a dewalt 084 but it only shines a dot and not lines. It can't shine on the floor or in an arc so I can mark ceiling height.any suggestions

HD carries a Bosch that throws a horizontal and vertical line. It is self leveling, which is a plus. It replicates the original PLS type levels. Runs just over $100.
Just to save you a little money, a chalk line will do the same thing with less impact on the pocketbook. You can use it for a plumb bob as well.
I note they have a Johnson Level, self leveling, rotary laser for a little less, and if it is like mine, it will also shoot a vertical dot to the ceiling, which is all you need in a few spots to ensure plumb.
