I am new to woodworking. I just bought a router. I am seeing more about guide bushings to follow templates and jigs. Can anyone help me out and explaine the how the bushing is used.

lstewjr,
A router guide bushing screws into the base of the router - it has a collar slightly larger than the bit being used. The collar will move along the template as the bit cuts. Also used for templates is a router bit with a bearing which moves along the pattern and the bit cuts flush on the subject. There are many good router/woodworking books available which show all kinds of neat tricks. Good luck.
