Removing drill chuck: I did this before~how did i do it..HELP!

Heres my craftsman drill motor.It needs a new chuck .it was ordered today.SO..I started to take the old chuck off, I got the screw out that holds the chuck on..........What come next? I mean do i smack it off? with hammer and chisel?PLEASE TELL me.i removed the "channel lock"tightened........plastic chuck.Junk.
I have done this a few times before whats the proper way to remove it.? Thank very much bob s

Typically the screw inside the chuck is left-thread--turn clockwise to remove. Then tighten the chuck onto an allen wrench (1/4" or larger), lay the drill flat on the bench and give the allen wrench a whack in the normal CCW direction to loosen the right-threaded chuck.
