Air compressor won’t go beyond 40 psi
Anyone have experience with this style of compressor. I’ve read a few general solutions as to what goes wrong with compressors but hoping people have some experience with this style/manufacturer. It’s a Canadian Tire Brand.
i don’t hear any leaks....just seems it runs forever and won’t get past 40 psi

My first guess would be ....... "reed" is worn out. Needs a new one. However, it's usually a challenge to find reeds for most "no name" air compressors.
Other more experienced members may have more/better answers/suggestions.

Good guess..... cracked/defective reed plate.
Another possible problem is defective check valve.
Does the compressor hold the 40psi when shut off ?

If this is a brand new compressor, have you adjusted the pressure regulator to set your maximum psi?

It might be under different name. Maybe throttle plate or check valve. You may not have that kind of set up. Not all compressors use that mechanism. I'm unable to enlarge your parts list. Can't read anything that might help. Maybe one of the more experienced guys can come up with something.
Could the regulator be bad?

If following steps 1-6 in your manual makes no difference I would say the problem might be part 35, or 51.

Photos of the head and cylinder. The cylinder ring was partially torn. Think that’s It? Does the head look complete?

Looks like that compressor has seen plenty of action.
Yes.... a defective ring can cause problems. So can a scored cylinder wall.
In that unit.... the reeds are replaced with the cylinder head. Pictorial #11. OEM # 3310250-1

I’m looking at a rigid or porter and cable 6 gallon pancake from home Depot. I have a gift card I need to use.
any preference. Just using it for bike/car tires and blowing out my Seadoo at the end of the season.

I have a Campbell Hausfeld. Most likely the same thing. Does a pretty good job. I use it for a lot more things than I thought I would. I considered getting a large vertical tank unit. My son did and it only lasted about 3 years. These little pancake units hold up pretty well.

I am partial to the Porter Cable because I got a used one that looked new about 8 or 9 years ago and it still works perfectly just for the same as you want to use one for, mostly airing up tires. I think I gave a total of $85 for the compressor, 2 boxes of Girl Scout cookies and an Olympus digital camera at the pawn shop.

Anyone know where you can order a new piston ring? Mine appears to be soft plastic...almost rubber like.

Still trying to find a piston ring like the one attached. Seems to be like a rubber/plastic material.

Using your parts listing........... that compressor uses silica gel rings.
There are six parts shown to the rings and sealing system
M & D mower and appliance parts carries those parts.
The link is their search page where you can enter the part number to view the part.
