Weed Wacker line gets stuck around head

I've got a Stihl gas trimmer, only a couple years old. I've head a saw head on it since last fall, and now when I put the string spool back on it keeps winding around the head & binding up to a stop. I even took the remainder of the line off of it and put on a new wind.

Any ideas?

When the line wraps around, how much line is protruding from the head? Is too much line out?

Doesn't seem to be excessive line, certainly no more than in the past.

There is a sharp edge on the shroud that is suppose to cut the line to a length that should not get tangled on the head.
is this working?
Also, if the stringer motor is running rough the head could be sliowing down and speeding up causing the string to loose momentum.

Are you winding cord in right direction? I had one arrows on spool were confusing and easy to wind cord wrong way and had your problem.

Not sure what this means!

I've owned a Stihl trimmer before and never had any issues.

It is important to go back to the owners manual and read how to install the cord and replace the spool. More than once I have found I was not doing it correctly!
