Dying Hammer Drill

Have a reasonably inexpensive Skill hammer drill purchased about 3 years ago. It hasn't seen a whole lot of use, but it's worked well. Until one day it sputtered once or twice, sparked out the back, and died. It wasn't being over-worked (1/4" bit and only a few holes).

Is it worth trying to fix? New brushes? Or just get a new one?
Any suggestions?

As DIY'ers we must play with our power tools. It must be dissected and assessed for repair.
Could be just a broken cracked brush.

You could get another one and fix this one as a spare.
