Miter saw recommendations?

Seriously considering replacing my current 12" miter saw, a pretty well-used Rigid. Browsing around in my price range, I'm seeing a Dewalt sliding miter saw (DWS779) frequently mentioned:

12" Dewalt miter saw

Anyone have one of this model or have experience with it. Any others in this price range that you would recommend?

As a bonus, the local Lowe's has it in stock and I get 10% off.

I have an older similar model the 780XPS with the led light... its a good saw. The light is priceless.

Near as I can feel, the current 780 model is a 779 with some extra bells and whistles as you mentioned.

I don't have that sliding saw but I have a 12" DeWalt compound miter saw that I have had for about 25 years and it has never given me any trouble. I also have many family members that have the same saw I have and their saws also run forever. IMO you can't go wrong with a DeWalt saw.

I too had a 12" Dewalt trouble free for more than 20 years. My daughter has one also and she loves it. If I were in the market I wouldn't even consider another brand.

Sold! I went to Lowe's to get a feel for that one I was looking at; I was concerned about the size of the footprint vice my space. Ended up getting the non-slider 12" DeWalt; the slider was going to be a space problem. Got it all set up and a couple of test cuts- oooooooooo, I LIKE it.

That saw will work very well for you. Congrats!

That is one of the biggest things about the sliders I don't like. They take a lot of room and can be heavy to move around. If I do ever need to replace my DeWalt I might go with a 10" slider.

I also have the 12' non slider, hoping one of my boys will want a saw so I can give them mine and have an excuse to buy the slider even though I don't have a real need, just a want!

Looking for a good cart? After a few choices that I was disappointed with got this Ridgid SUV, it's great, Looks like they may have redesigned newer model so not sure! Easy to move, sturdy even with long heavy material, folds to compact space!
