Speed Controller - Power Tools

Anyone have recommendations for a specific model Power Tools RPM Controller?

Foot pedal vs. Rheostat pros/cons?
Presumably, the Foot Pedal is spring-loaded to return to the lowest RPM - is there any difficulty maintaining a constant RPM when necessary?

It wouldn't be difficult to build, but gathering all the parts is difficult and expensive...

Thanks for any thoughts,

Tom

Google "power tool speed controller" and you will get many inexpensive options. Just know that running a motor on a power tool slower than its "normal" speed can cause the motor to overheat.

That said, I made up a speed controller using an old style dimmer and have never had an issue.

I burnt up a palm router trying that once with a rheostat type of controller.

Not advisable.

Don't use a dimmer. Only use a solid-state speed control.
