Question HELP with my scroll saw

new to this site, and need advice on the use of a scroll saw.
got one for christmas two years ago and still can't get the thing
to work without breaking blades all the time. PLEASE HELP!

sloooooow down and make sure you have the blade in the right direction

Been there...know the frustration. Our local library has several good books on scrolling. Yours might also. Causes of broken blades can be anything from: too much tension on the blade; teeth of blade facing up in lieu of down; trying to cut too fast or too thick of wood for the type of blade. Suggest you try to get the saw to run without breaking blades while not cutting any wood. Try plucking the blade (like a guitar) making a mental note of the sound. If it breaks, try again without as much tension. Once you get that down pat start trial cuts on thin, soft wood (even balsa) and work your way up to thicker, harder woods..
