type of power saw?

I'm looking to find that right kind of power saw to meet my needs. All I need it for is for cutting boards, lattice, that sort of thing. Nothing high precision- just to make shelves, simple external repairs, and garden fencing. I'm confused by all the choices- what would be the best for me?

do you mean, like, a circular saw?? if so, i'd recommend a nice cordless -- craftsman had one on QVC's tool show for around $100 -- i think it was 14.4 volt or so. yes, i even watch that show sometimes!

The corded 7-1/4" circ saw (next to the cordless drill) is standard issue in a toolbox. Cordless may be great but it is more of a second saw.
What is your budget? If you don't already know, Craftsman is low end.
Good luck.

Yes, I had thought about a circular saw, but then I saw a reciprocating saw and wandered if that would do the trick. But it looks like the circular saw is what I need. Thanks for the advice!
