brinks alarm system
can anyone tell me how I can re-program a brinks system to use without their monitoring? It is a sentrol bhs-1200b. Any clue? We pulled the 40 pin eeprom and tried to reprogram it but it wont take. HELP!!!!!!!!

You can't. It's "burned-in." In other words, the receiver number (to the central station) is permanently programmed into the system. Your only option is to replace the board and keypads.

Maybe, it's probably not worth it though, considering you can get a new system for less than $100. I don't bother with them, so I'm not sure, but I think that EEP is soldered on, so it would be a pain. Not sure where you would get one anyway, Scantronics makes most of Brinks systems, I seriously doubt they will sell just an EEP, but can't hurt to try. Let me know how it goes, if you can find someone who will do it cheap, it might be worth looking into. I have a couple Brinks systems that I can't do anything with.

I thank you for all of your help, I have heard these are a pain. I have a couple of guys that have been in the alarm buisness for a long time that might be able to do something with these things. you can buy the eep at nec. $12.00 but now you have to program it.

Yeah, and programming is the problem. Like I say, it's just easier (and cheaper) for me to replace them.
