dsc 1500 loss of AC power

We are getting a "Trouble" light on our DSC 1500. The code says it is due to a "loss of AC power". We assume this means loss of Alternating Current...how do we go about fixing it?

Thanks...

Start with the easiest thing: check the transformer to make sure it's plugged-in. If so, go to the panel with a V-meter and check the current across terminals 1 & 2 (should be about 16VAC.) If that's good, then check the fuses. That's about it.

Make sure it's a Power loss trouble (Loss of AC is 2 when *2 is pressed.) More than likely it's a loose transformer, or possibly a blown fuse. If the transformer is completely shot (also possible - surges kill them very quickly), you'll have to order a new one.

Good luck!

Thanks for the quick response.

The transformer was plugged in and the error code was definitely 2. We checked the fuses - they looked ok. We checked the leads coming out of the transformer and had no voltage reading. We assume that the transformer is shot. Do you agree? If so, how do we get a new one - from a security install company, radio shack, etc?

Yep, definitely sounds like a bad transformer. Just for the heck of it, try a working appliance in that plug, just to make sure it's not faulted somehow or something. If so, you may be able to get a transformer at Radio Shack, just be sure to take your's with you. Expect to pay $20 plus.

Good luck!

Thank you! By the way, the plug does work fine.
