Question Brinks Home Security System

Hello All,

I have a Brinks Home Security system that came with my new home. I wish to just activate it locally, in home only. I called Brinks, and they said I must pay them to monitor the system and have them program it in order to use it. Does anyone know if this is true? Does anyone know how to activate the system without having Brinks monitor the system?

It has been disconnected since I moved in and it went off and I did not know the code to turn it off. Everytime I reconnect it, it arms the system and then goes off as soon as someone moves in the house.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Arrow Brinks solution?

Chances that you "have to have it monitored" to use it are slim to none. 99% of alarm systems can be run locally....OR.... via a monitoring station.

Unfortunatly, a system to be programmed is no good without a master code and installers code so you can change options.

Check inside the electrical panel box aka "CAN" and see if there is a manual in there with the specified codes written in it. (Programming guide/worksheets)

Otherwise, see what name of system it is; be it Ademco, DSC, ITI, Napco, etc? If one of these or a varient, somebody on this forum may be able to help you out more then.

Don't be bullied into paying for monitoring if you don't want it! 99% of the time when a burglar heres a siren go off, regardless of it calling the police, he's already gone in the geta-way-car! Most times local alarm systems turn out to be higher priced noise makers......BUT very effective ones!!!
