Hi
I have just bought a new home and it comes with Ranger security.
Unfortunately the previous owner didn't have the system installed and doesn't know the entry code.
I would like to set up my own, anyone know how? It is the Ranger 8980. Thanks

Ok, you have one chance at this - that the original installer code was never changed - highly unlikely, but we'll give it a try, you never know. If this doesn't work, be prepared to replace the Control Panel and Keypad(s) - which can be done for around $200.

Try putting in 9713 at the keypad - if nothing happens (or you may get a long beep - I forget) then you're not in programming and you're out of luck. If the lights change (and you may get 2 or 3 short beeps) then you are in programming and you're in luck.

If you do get into programming - immediately press 930# to exit - you don't want to mess anything up and make the panel completely useless.

Let me know how that goes, and if it works I'll tell you how to change the Master Code - otherwise, I recommend getting a Concord Express and just replacing the Control Panel and Keypad(s). It's actually very easy to do.

Good luck!

Brandon,
No luck. Thanks for your response though.
