Brinks BHS-3000A Home Alarm System
#1

We had a power outage that lasted approximately 25 hours the other day due to severe weather. Unfortunately my alarm system doesn’t work anymore. I was not paying for monitoring in the first place and using the system off-line. I’ve run through the trouble shooting procedure in my manual which is no help. I also used a meter to verify the AC voltage coming from my transformer was correct and that the DC output on my battery was correct. Everything checks out fine. The keypad beeps when keys are depressed but there is no power light on any of the keypads. Any ideas????

Hmm, I really don't know much about Brinks systems - especially the 3000. You may want to try a power cycle and see what happens.
Good luck!

25 hours is almost enough to kill most any system.
But anyway, the reason the brinks system is not responsive is that after an extensive power outage (such as 25 hours) it drains the battery almost completely. the brinks system you have, just before the battery totaly dies the system is progrommed (by factory default) to completly shut down. Seems yours, in the process of shutting down, it has dumpped it's site programming (the programming the tells the system the account#, zones, zone type, ect, ect.) and converted back to default settings as if it was still new in-the-box. The only unfortunate remedy, is to contact your brinks office to have it re-programmed using their exclusive programmers or their corp. offices downloading the info into it. Sorry, it's all because its proprietary equipnent from a proprietary alarm company.
