Unhappy Ademco 6160 V No Display but beeps

I just installed a new Ademco Vista 20 P with a 6160 V keypad, all zones are hardwired. When I put power to the system the keypad beeps, I get no display on the LCD screen but the keys are illuminated. If I press the keys the keypad will beep. I read somewhere you need to program the primary keypad address to 16. Shouldnt I atleast get a readout even before I do that?

Nope, no display or anything until you program the address.

Press 1 & 3 at the same time for about 2 secs after you power up.
Enter 16, then *.

That should do it.

BTW, if you have any other keypads, you're going to have to address them also (starting with 17) and enable them in the system's programming (starting at field *190, I think, or *191?) Somewhere around there.

Good luck!
