Napco GEM-P400 Programming Help Needed

I just recently purchased a home with the Napco GEM-P400 alarm system installed, but the alarm was never used. I was able to find the user manual and the the installation instructions off of the Safe Watch Service website. This allowed me to find the default user code 1 and perform the user programming utilities to set up the alarm. I was able to make and delete new user codes, but I was unable to reset and change the default User Code 1. I believe the User 1 Code Lockout is preventing me from changing the default 1234 code, but I was unable to figure out how to enter the Dealer programming mode to change this. I found in the manual that the default dealer code is 4567 and the Lockout is in [96]Dealer Options 1 (2)User 1 Code Lockout, but I do not know how to apply this info from the manual. Please help me figure this out.

THanks

I'm not real familiar with the Napco line, but I have worked on a few. They are tough to program.

Here's some info I have on the P400, if it will help:

Enter Program Press FUNCTION + 8 + 4567 + ON/OFF Key
(Keypad should sound 3 quick beeps, ARMED light will turn On, Trouble will Flash)

Exit Program RESET + FUNCTION + 8 + <Installer Code> + ON/OFF

Move TO Location RESET + 2-digit location

Move IN Location Press INTERIOR

Delete Location Press INSTANT

If the default code has been changed, you may be out of luck. Or, you may have to default the panel and start over again:

Default Panel 1. Power down and jumper terminal 15 to terminal 3
2. Power up, after 10 seconds ARMED, READY SYSTEM will flash + 3 beeps

3. Power back down, return wiring back to normal then power up again
(If this does not work system is locked out)

Good luck!

Thanks SafeWatch. I'll try it out later this evening and let you know of my progress. Thanks.

SafeWatch, just tried out your method of reprogramming and it worked like a charm. Thanks for all the info.
