Home Automation and Security System

I have just closed on a new home that is prewired for a security system. I would like to install the security system myself, but I am perplexed by the brands and features. I am wanting a system that includes some home automation features, like light control and garage with future expansion for thermostat(heating and cooling). I also like the idea of a remote FOB for arming and disarming, garage operation and perhaps a light control. Are these FOBs secure? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Most of the current major brands have some degree of home automation integration capability. Given the mix of features you are looking at, the ITI Concord Express is probably not a bad choice, since it comes with wireless built in.
