Power Outage and a DSC Power832 Alarm

Please HELP!!!!

Hurricane Charley knocked the power out for a week. When the power came back on, so did the Alarm.

We don't have the code and can't locate the previous owners.
I've turned off all power to the alarm (and garage).

When I turn the power on it is armed and ready. Then goes off about 5 minutes later.

I found the instruction manual on the web but have no clue if the factory master code is still on the system. According to the instructions you can't reset the master code but then it also says to contact your dealer to obtain a master code. ????

The master code is programmed at the installer programming level. Depending on programming, the master code may or may not be changeable from the user level.

The factory default programmer code is 5010, but since you are stuck in alarm, it does you no good.

There is a factory default, but it the panel and all of it's configurations will have to be reprogrammed from scratch.

Factory Default Main Panel (Hardware)
Step 1 - Remove AC and battery from the panel.
Step 2 - Remove all wires from the Zone 1 and PGM1 terminals.
Step 3 - With a piece of wire short the Zone 1 terminal to the PGM1 terminal.
Step 4 - Apply AC power to the main panel.
Step 5 - When Zone Light 1 is lit on the keypad the default is complete.
Step 6 - Remove AC power from the control
Step 7 - Reconnect all original wiring and power up the control.

This should take you out of alarm and restore the master code to the factory default of 1234, and the installer code to 5010.

You definitely want the installer manual (available from a number of online sources) to get it back up and running (though it sounds like you never had access to the system before). But at least you can shut it up.

Thank you so very much for the response.
Just now getting back to all of this mess.
Ended up completely un-wiring the damn thing.
I'm going to hook it back up and try your advise.

Thank you again!

Dear MrRonFL,

Have been reading your posts about reset the defalut of DSC 382. I really need your help. I have the DSC 832 and the installer lockout the system. Now the alarm light is on and my access code doesn't work so I can't disalarm it from the keypad. What I did was powered the system off by un plug the transiformor. WHen I repower the system, it is still alarmed. I tried your way of reset to default but was failded to to so. I have never see step 5. Can you help?
