Help installing a second Brinks BHS-3101 Keypad
#1

Hey guys...I'm new here....and I desperatly need your help. Ok, here's the story. I bought another Brinks BHS-3101 Keypad on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5923912095), because I wanted to put one upstairs. Well it came today. It was brand new and everything, so obviously the guy who sold this to me has a contact with Brinks. I'm trying to get in touch with him, but he's power seller and sometimes it's hard to get in touch with those type of sellers.
Anyways, I took an extra 4-wire line in the attic and sent it down the wall to where I wanted the keypad to be installed. Once I fished the wire through the hole in the wall, I stripped the wire and connected the contacts to the Keypad. (And yes I did it right...it's in the same order as the other keypads are)
I then powered down the system by unplugging the AC power and then diconnecting the battery. I connected the wires to the control panel. Once I was done with that, I connected the battery back and then plugged the transformer back in.
Both original keypads lit up, showed text, and controlled the system. Well I thought everything was going good until I walked upstairs and tryed arming the system with the new keypad. Well to my surprise, it wouldn't control the system or display any text. I do know it's getting power, because it beeps and lights up.
One thing that might help you out is that the backlit keypad that is suppose to stay on all the time times out at the same time as the backlit LCD.
I really hope you can help....I just paid $32.00 (that's with shipping)....and now I have nothing to show for it.
Thanks,
Kyle

Which alarm system do you have? BHS-2000? BHS-3000? Other?
The only one I know anything about is the BHS-2000, and I don't think you have to address the keypads with that one, but I'm not sure.
You may have a hard time finding answers on this as Brinks is pretty picky about who has access to their info - you will probably have to find a Brinks installer/technician to help out.
Good luck!

UPDATE: Brinks would NOT come and program the keypad, because it was not brought with the technician, so I returned it to the guy who sold it to me, and he happily gave me a full refund including shipping. I'm happy now, but I feel sorry for any body else who buys those keypads.
