DSC PC 2550 Installation Manual

I recently purchased a home that has already a DSC PC 2550 8 zone alarm system installed in it. After going through several different companies I found that all of them basically want to rip it out and install their own. I finally called DSC and they told me that ADP can do the monitoring. After I told that that DSC had told me that ADP can monitor it they all changed their tune and said yeah they could monitor it without changing out the entire system and will do it. Rip off artists.

The ADP installation guy come in 3 days late, attached the phone cable to the system and we got a trouble light, disconnected, reconnected it and no light, but now they're saying that the system isn't dialing out. Now they want to change out the head unit and the panels.

Is anyway I can test this myself? I don't know if I can trust any of them anymore...

Aram

P.S. If anyone has the "installation" manual for one of these systems in PDF that would be great appreciated as well. I am pretty good at figuring out these things. I already have the user manual and the installation master code.

A number of online vendors have DSC install manuals available for download. A google will get you several hits.

The panel should be able to be converted. There is one exception. There is an installer lockout function, that if activated by the previous installer makes it nearly impossible for anyone else to get into the program to change the dialer settings.

The installation manual does have the procedure for testing for this. If it's not locked out, the panel will likely need to be defaulted, but it's entirely possible that the problem is something else.

If they were able to access programming, it could be something as simple as your having DSL on the telco lines.

If you can provide a link that would be great, from searching for 'dsc (install|installation) (manual|document) 2550' or various combonations of those words I have been led to broken links, and login pages.

What I would like to do is have it call cell phone for a test. The phone line is now attached, no trouble light is on, but when the panic button is pushed or any zone is breached according to the ADT it isn't calling them. So this is what I would like to test out, if possible. Is this type of information to program the unit with available?

Safewatch is one of the people who vends such manuals.

I don't think I have that particular manual online, but I do have the following info (which is the same as in the other post):

DSC PC2550 Program Sheet

Enter Program * 8 2550 (READY, ARMED and SYSTEM Lights should flash)

Exit Program #

Move to location Enter 2-digit location, # may be needed to exit some locations

Default Panel 1. Power down then up, if board clicks panel is locked out (replace board)
2. If panel does not click leave power ON, short default pins and enter * 8 0000
3. Keypad should show TROUBLE, BYPASS and MEMORY lights flashing

4. Remove short from default pins and program normally
(Does not work on V1.3 & above 2550's (Version info found on large main chip)

That may help. But, you will also need ADT's installer code: 6321
Use that instead of the above-listed default code.

Good luck!
