DSC system -- missing master code

Hi guys,

Sorry to ask this question again, but I looked through all the other threads about master codes and couldn't find anything on DSC.

I moved into a condo, and the former owner didn't leave me the master code. I managed to get the code she'd programmed out of her, but no master code. Now I need to reset it (the time, actually), and I have no master code.

I'd call the company that was responsible for setting up her security, but I've tried several times to get them out to work on it, and a) they never show and b) every time I talk to one of their people on the phone, I feel like they're the kind of people I need a security system to keep out! (Kinda creepy. )

I really appreciate any help!
Best,
Kat

Short of the original installer getting the code out with download software, all you can do with most DSC panels is default the panel and start from scratch, and hope some joker didn't activate the installer lockout function.

Thanks for the response, Mr. Ron of Fl (where I'd like to be right now, I tell ya).

This thing has driven me crazy since I moved in, so alas, I guess I'm not surprised.

Could you direct me to someplace that explains how to default the panel?

Thanks so much,
Kat

What is the model? This topic has been covered several times for most of the DSC models, and I can direct you to an archive post that has pretty much the step by step.

From what I can gather by looking at the thing, it's a Power 832 system with a 1555MX motherboard.

Thank you again for the help!!

If it's a 1555mx board, it's a Power 632 (unless someone installed a replacement board in an 832 can, which I've seen before).

Either way, you will need to shop the online vendor sites for a PC1555 installer manual (if you do a websearch for "DSC installer manuals" you will get a lot of hits, its a pretty common panel. If it was still on the factory default, the installer code would be 5555. Even trying to default the panel without the installer manual is an exercise in frustration.

Read the section on programming _carefully_ before you proceed.
