programming vista 20P from scratch

Please help...again,

OK, I've gotten my 6150 keypad to respond by addressing it to 16. Then I've entered programming mode using 4112 800 which then displays 20. What exactly do I do now? I believe that I need to assign equipment types to specific zones?? At the "20" I've keyed in *56 to assign zone types, but only get a blank screen with "No AC" in the top right corner...what am I missing?

I've wired:

zone 1- main entry magnetic switch
zone 2- motion detector
zone 3- motion detector
zone 4- motion detector

Any help is greatly appreciated,

MAS

I set up my Vista-20PS the weekend before last. Good luck!

From what I've read and can now attest to you want to program it with an alpha keypad so that you can see prompts and such. The 6150 that you are using is a fixed-word display and you will be flying blind (accept for the beeps).

I had got the 6270 thinking it would make things easier but alas I had to use it in console mode (looks like a 6160) to do all the programming except for managing users and codes.

If you aren't in a big hurry I would recommend making friends with someone in your area that can let you borrow an alpha keypad for a couple of hours or grab a used one for short money on ebay or the like. It will save you a lot of frustration.
