I just had SteveFL help me program my DSC832, and everything works great. the trouble we have now, is that the trouble light is on solid and will not go off. i hit *2 and there is nothing displayed as having any problems. Can anyone help us out and know what it is? Thanks

Hey whats up. I just got off the phone with dsc support they told me it's a quick programming fix but they need me to be on site before they can do it. This is obviously not going to happen so hopefully someone else has run into this before I don't have a book on this keypad or I could probably figure it out

I called some of our other techs they don't know either. hopefully mr ron or someone will know and post it then I will know the next time it comes up

First of all, I will assume that this is all _new_ hardware (i.e. not an ebay purchase). It makes a difference, some older versions of these keypads require different handling.

If you are pressing *2, with this keypad there will be small numbers at the top center of the display. You may be getting a trouble display, and simply don't realize what you should be looking for.

mr ron, To bring you up to speed as I understand it The trouble light is lit *2 there are no indicaters I called DSC tech support they said it is a comman problem but that they needed me on site to verify version and to get them online I was hoping that maybe one of ya'll had been through this before and knew the fix. It sounded like it might be kind of like the receiver keypad and motherboard defect that the 1555 has I don't know they would not elaborate unless I was onsite.

That's why I was asking the questions I was asking.

Try turning off option 3 in section 13. There was an issue with that and some of the older versions of the LCD keypads. These fixed english keypads may have the same issue. Otherwise, these are basically fancier versions of the LED keypad.

Also, neither of these keypads is a wireless reciever version as well, I take it?
(There's no -433 or -900 in the model number).

Hey Steve and Ron. i tried it, and it didn't work. No big deal. i will just learn to deal with it guys. Thanks again. I used enough of your time, and I am TRULY GREATFUL for all you have done, since techs charge a bit of money for programing. Thanks again.

It sounds like this may be an undocumented glitch that will take DSC assistance. There is no mention of this in any of the online tech bullitin archives for the panel or keypad, there is also nothing in the manual for the keypad itself. There is one last thing:

Did you set the individual keypad addresses at _each_ keypad. Two keypads sharing the same address will produce odd effects on DSC power series panels.

(PS, I have been following these threads, you all seemed to have it in hand till we hit this wall...).

it's not that they can't it's that they wont. They wouldn't even tell me how to have you fix your troublr light if I was not on site. Can't really blame them though they don't want to bite the hand of security professionals who use their equipment we all have to eat

Hey Steve, i was wondering, Since I do not have any smoke detectors yet, am I supposed to be using a resistor/ Is that why my trouble light may be on/ I am not using any resistors at all right now. Should I be? Thanks

I guess its possible but that would come up as a 5 when you do a *2 but then again maybe its part of the problem ron was talking about put it there if you have one

I really dont think it matters because pgm 1 and pgm 2 are not programmed for fire and none of the zones are programmed as fire but for future referance the resistor should have stripes in this order green blue red gold

Well I went to another Forum site and found out that these keypads have an OPTION 4 for later use. When the trouble light is on solid with no code as to why, it is most likely this reason. Here is the fix:

Press *, 8, Installer Code, 000, 6
IF (only if) the 4 light is lit press 4 to turn it off
Then press #,#,# to exit

And it works. NO MORE TROUBLE LIGHT!!! Yessssss!!!!
