Have recently renovated basement and in the interim had disabled alarm system and cancelled central monitoring. Have now move the control panel to a different area (near the electrical panel) and plugged it back in. A trouble code #3 is indicating because I haven't reconnected the RJ-31x jack. Problem is when I enter * 8 5010 to enter programming mode a two second beep sounds. I'm thinking the installer has modified the code without my knowing. Question is whether there's any way around this other than shorting out the panel back to factory default? Am having difficulty reaching original installer to ask him for the code as I don't feel like paying him to come over to disable the telephone line monitor, which I believe it to be. My gut feeling is that even if I do reach him, he won't give me the new code. The thing that bugs me is that the system was bought and paid for and don't believe he should have the right to do that on my property. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I currently have a Brinks home alarm system. We purchased a cat (under 20 pounds) and so I bought Visonic pet immune motion detectors and installed them myself (they were a Duo brand, although looking at the website the model we bought last year is no longer offered). So far they work fine with the exception of the detector in my foyer, that faces the stairs going up to our second level...that alarm seems to trip when the cat goes up stairs. I suspect it trips because the motion detector I use avoid pets based upon height, are there any detectors that can work facing stairs, or are able to use weight / mass to screen out pets? Any thoughts would be appreciated. :confused:
